Funhouse Massacre

My partner said anyone who watches a movie called Funhouse Massacre knows what they're getting into, but I kind of felt this could've been more. The premise of a true-crime amusement park being attacked by the actual murderers is above-average creative for a funhouse horror movie. But, like with all the ones I've seen so far, I wished for more. I do love a Robert Englund appearance, though. (An example of good funhouse horror is in Us, but that's only a small part of the movie).

Heretic (contains spoilers)

Mixed feelings about this one. The acting is great and it's a clever setup with good dialogue. The tension builds well in the beginning, but then it was kind of not enough payoff for the slow burn. It felt like the cellar reveal wanted to be like Barbarian, totally different from what we expected. The content was, but the scenes lacked urgency for me because the characters are standing around amidst dead bodies, etc. having a philosophical debate. On a similar note, the movie gives a *lot* of space to being lectured at by a preachy atheist. This is consistent with character, but it still feels like an unnecessarily large chunk of the movie. I'd say this one is an interesting watch that stays below its potential in terms of tension in the second half and occasionally feels more like a vehicle for talking points than horror. I still enjoyed it, though.

Heart Eyes Killer

There are always too few good horror comedies and whodunnits. I enjoyed this one. It's entertaining and fun, and makes good use of romcom tropes. Plus the worldbuilding of everyone being scared on Valentine's Day was good. The level of gore seemed too much and not really fitting for a comedy. It doesn't bother me personally to see, but it didn't really match the comedy aspect I thought. But I feel like there's a trend towards that lately so who knows. The killer reveal was so-so as far as whodunnits goes but I'd overall recommend this movie.
