This movie contains my absolute least favorite plot twist, where it was all a dream, delusion, hallucination, whatever. Unlike The Ward, which is similar and the only John Carpenter movie I've ever not liked, it's not even really a twist in this movie, because they're showing you all along all this blahblah about some guy with multiple personalities. Hard to be invested when you know all along no one is real and nothing matters. It's a shame because a bunch of different people stranded at a motel is a nice setup, but I wouldn't recommend this one.
Ha this movie is not great but if you've watched the series this far, it will seem fantastic bc it's not complete trash like parts 1-3 (although, like them, it requires a multiverse to cover over the plotholes and spends the beginning of the movie doing a lengthy montage of scenes from the parts before). It's kind of an unwitting horror comedy with such bad dialogue it's funny, like when the guy getting murdered keeps yelling "He's killing me!" over and over. The random sexy adult twins (wearing matching outfits as all adult twins do) had kind of a porno vibe. Crystal Lake must have the world's best PR department since people keep going on vacation there in spite of the constant murders.
